Seventh Workshop on SHAring and Reusing architectural Knowledge (SHARK 2012)

www.shark-workshop.org

SHARK focuses on current and emerging methods, languages, notations, technologies and tools to extract, represent, share, use and re-use architectural knowledge. Architectural Knowledge (AK) is the integrated representation of the software architecture of a software-intensive system (or a family of systems), the architectural design decisions, and the external context/environment. It is recognized as the means for architecture governance; it facilitates and supports collaboration and the transfer of expertise. The seventh SHARK will focus on current approaches tackling the problem of supporting the software engineering tasks driven by or producing architectural knowledge.

2nd International Workshop on Variability in Software Architecture (VARSA 2012)

http://sites.google.com/site/varsa2012

Variability is the ability of a software system or artifact to be adapted for specific contexts in a preplanned manner. Many of today’s software systems are built with variability in mind, e.g., product lines and families, self-adaptive systems, open platforms, or service-based systems with dynamic runtime composition of web services. Variability is reflected in and facilitated through the software architecture. Also, as the software architecture is a reference point for many development activities and for achieving quality attributes, variability should be treated as a first-class and cross-cutting concern in software architecture. Therefore, VARSA 2012 aims at identifying critical challenges and progressing the state-of-the-art on variability in software architecture.

Architectures and Platforms for Knowledge Discovery from Data Workshop (APKDD 2012)

http://cda.ornl.gov/apkdd-12/

APKDD workshop invites submissions and presentations on technical and analytic platforms for large scale data collection and organization, comprehensive data analysis, improvement of collection and organization methods and analysis of large data sets. Participants are encouraged to share presentations, empirical and theoretical studies and algorithms related to data management platforms for heterogeneous data storage, cloud- based infrastructure for dynamic and on-demand data and compute resource provisioning, innovative and ad-hoc visualizations and Web-Oriented-Architecture (WOA) APIs for access to data and analytic functions.

Second Workshop on Architecture in Global Software Engineering (AGSE 2012)

The workshop has been cancelled due to low number of submissions. However, a Birds of Feather (BoF) session is planned on the topic.

www.cs.bilkent.edu.tr/AGSE-2012/

Global software engineering has been mainly addressed from social issues focusing on concerns such as intercultural communication and coordination. A close analysis of the literature shows that the technical architecture design of global software development (GSD) is not broadly addressed. Yet, architecting GSD systems is a challenging task. As such, we believe that the topic of this workshop is very relevant for the WICSA conference. This workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners for defining and advancing the state-of-the-art and state-of-the practice in architecture design of global software development systems.
